On the occasion of its 18th Homeland & Global Security Forum, held in October 2016 in Brussels, the Crans Montana Forum organised a Special day, under the aegis of the African Women's Forum, in the premises of the European Parliament.
The first session, co-chaired by Amb. Jean-Paul Carteron, Honorary Chairman & Founder of the Crans Montana Forum and Mr. Gilles Pargneaux, MEP and host of the event, addressed the fight against the radicalization of Women who are the first victims of the terror strategy.
In this framework, Amb. Jean-Paul Carteron and Mr. Didier Reynders, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, presented the Prix de la Fondation 2016 to Her Excellency Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, Wife of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and Mrs. Emma Bonino, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy and Former European Commissionner.
The second session was co-chaired by two Members of the African Women's Forum Honorary Committee, Mrs. Pearl Kupe, Director of African Women's Leadership Programme, Mrs. Aicha Bah Diallo, Chairperson of TrustAfrica in Kenya. They discussed how Women and Education play a key role in the prevention of radicalization and in the fight against terrorism.
