The American magazine Time has just revealed its 2016 list of the 100 most influential people, TIME 100.
Two key figures, fighting against violations of African Women's rights, are listed in the prestigious ranking.
Jaha Dukureh was an infant when her external sexual organs were amputated in her native country, the Gambia. Now living in Atlanta, she founded Safe Hands for Girls to empower and educate, in the United States and internationally, young women and communities about the dangers and effects of Female Genital Mutilation.
Mr. Denis Mukwege, gynaecological surgeon and founder of the Panzi Hospital in DRC, specializes in the treatment of women who have been gang-raped by rebel forces. “The Man who repairs Women” and his team have already treated more than 46,000 victims of sexual and gender based violence.
The Crans Montana African Women’s Forum continues to raise its voice to reveal these atrocities and is most grateful to Jaha Dukureh and Dr. Mukwege for their crucial action in favour of the reconstruction of African Women's integrity and dignity !
