In 2016, the Crans Montana Forum will launch a new Initiative, the Forum on Central to Far-Eastern Europe, to be held in Vienna (Austria), from June 30 to July 1st 2016.

On this occasion, a Special Programme in association with the Crans Montana African Women’s Forum will gather Ministers, notably Ministers of Women Affairs and Education, International & Regional Organizations, Member of Parliaments, Businesses and specialized NGOs coming from all around the World.

Education and gender equality are the engines to a better society. Now that Women are at managerial positions in Politics and Business, they need to become an asset to improve the Management of Public Affairs and to fight corruption.

Women from Africa, Eastern and Central Europe will meet during this new outstanding Initiative held in Vienna to discuss these crucials issues. It will be a unique opportunity for them to discover and develop their networks among personalities coming from these two zones with unlimited potential.

The United Nations celebrated the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation

On the occasion of the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), the Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, the singer, Inna Modja as well as women, experts and United Nations officials gathered during a special event organized at the United Nations Headquarters to discuss ways of eliminating this harmful practice by 2030 and to celebrate the increased mobilization against it.

This Celebration day is essential to promote the UN’s campaign to raise awareness and educate people about the dangers of Female Genital Mutilation.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 120 to 140 million women have been subject to FGM and 3 million girls are at risk each year. This practice is an abuse of international human rights while causing serious health complications, including fatal bleeding.

The Crans Montana African Women’s Forum renews its support to this noble cause and strives to eradicate this cruel practice putting in jeopardy the integrity and dignity of women.
